ABOUT US

The purpose of this web site is to sell good to excellent quality imported German Shepherd dogs. We are selective of the kennels and people that advertise their dogs with us.  I check all the pictures sent to me to make sure that none of the photos are "digitally enhanced".  If colors appear to be too red, green or blue, or dogs whose top line (over line) appears to be have been etched or modified, I request the owners send me new photos before placing them on this web site.  Keep in mind, no dog is fault free(according to the standard, no matter how expensive the price may seem to you, especially if you are used to the really cheap prices asked for dogs bred from American Champions.  German bred or imported dogs are sought after by the whole world, American bred lines are generally only sought after by people in the USA, Canada, America protectorates and perhaps some Mexicans.  Their are exceptions to all rules of course and I'm sure there are those of you can find exceptions to this one as well.

Like any service offering advertisement services we only write that information given to us by our advertisers.  Should you decide you like what you read about any dog pictured for sale on our site, ask about the price.  If you are still seriously interested, I can request an updated photo and confirmation as to the dog’s titles.  However, once you have been given all the information available to us and the payment process has begun, the Germans have a “no return, no refund” policy.  While we may sometimes purchase import dogs and puppies for our own personal use, we are quick to inform you if the dog is already present here.  There will be several ways in which you may be able to pay for your dog and we will indicate them under our “Payment” menu button.  Until that information is posted, you can call and ask us what they are.  Needless to say no checks of any kind are permitted.

Our main purpose here is to help Americans purchase quality dogs from German breeders that speak little or no English.  We will help and guide you through the entire process of what to expect from the time you order your dog from us, shipping and arrival times, paperwork, who to call and speak with at the SV office, etc.  We try to act as a conduit in an effort to make your transaction as simple as possible.

Our prices are not posted since all prices are given to us in Euro dollars.  This value changes daily and presently as I write this it is about $1.22 USD.  That means a $1,000 euro dog will cost you $1,222 USD. This conversion is applicable on all costs indicated below originating in Germany.

Your costs will include:

  1. Paying us for our services
  2. The owners asking price
  3. Transportation costs from the owners residence to the airport
  4. A crate
  5.  The shipping consolidators fee that includes the airfare.

Other costs you can expect to pay after arrival at your USA airport

  1. A customs fee of $20 USD

There are other costs that you might wish to consider after the fact.  These dogs are all of foreign registry.  Many Americans used to the AKC ‘s large size and efficient computerized way of doing business are oft times miffed at the oft times slower way the much smaller SV handles paperwork.  The whole office took a holiday over the Christmas vacations and didn’t return to work until January 10 this year.  Obviously that meant there was a large paper logjam waiting for these employees when they returned to work.  I can use myself as an example here; I had some paperwork sent November 20 last year.  I just received it back today, January 26.

Another thing, I can arrange to have the papers sent with the dog, but that is always dangerous.  Though it has not yet happened to me, I’ve been told that if you ever lose a dog's “pink papers”, it could take as long as six months to have new ones issued.  Therefore it has always been my policy to have the dog’s papers sent either by a “Fed Ex” type of delivery (24-48 hours) or by regular mail, (up to 7days!).  If you’ve ever lost luggage at an airport or ever been to an airports shipping department, you’ll understand why I choose to be careful with the dogs original papers.  I usually have copies sent with the dog along with its health certificate that has the dogs tattoo number stamped or engraved on it.  If you think you got the wrong dog, check its ear tattoo before you leave the warehouse other wise you will have to prove the dog your returning hasn’t been switched

Another thing, when calling me with questions about any dog.  Americans for some reason have a problem with not bothering to read written standards concerning the breed of dog they are about to buy.  Below is information that concerns both German dogs and bitches.  Keep in mind; these are weights of “fit” animals, not couch potatoes.

A pregnant bitch might weigh slightly more due to her condition.

Size:

Dog: 60 to 65 cm. (23.-25.5 in).
Bitch: 55 to 60 cm. (21.7-23.6 in) .

 Weight :

Dog: 30 to 40 kg. (66-88 lb).
Bitch: 22 to 32 kg (48.6-70.6 lb

American buyers who have never owner or purchased a German dog before should be aware the American standard available from the AKC is slightly different.  They give no weights. Size for dogs is 24” – 26” for dogs and 22” – 24” for females.

Of even greater importance to avoid unnecessary arguments at a future date, The Germans have always been a technical people and have a set way of doing things.  Americans have a tendency to measure their dogs at the top of dog’s shoulder blades; the Germans place the wicket just behind the dog’s shoulder blades, which could easily result in a ½ “ difference in the results.

By the time a German dog gets his SchH 1 title at around 20 months of age, he usually soon after goes for his Koer Klasse.  Keep in mind, not all dogs with a Sch title are necessarily  Koer Klassed.  In effect, what they consider to be important measurements concerning the dog’s proportions are measured and written down.  If a dog  purchased through us that has been Koer Klassed, you will also receive some Blue papers too.  Oh, at this time, the pink papers may have the “mouth picture” updated as well to denote if there are missing or broken teeth.

Dogs under the age of 12 months are usually given preliminary x-rays of hips and elbows and this information is forwarded in the advertisement.  German import dogs are x-rayed as early as one year of age.  American dogs can't receive their final OFA certification before they are two.  Germany like the USA has three acceptable readings on hips.  Ratings of a1, a2 or a3 are equal to the “a” normal, “a” fast normal and ‘a” noch zugelassen.  These are comparable to the OFA ratings of excellent, good or fair.

Should you buy a puppy or a young dog from us, early training is vital. This is an active dog with a need for space and exercise, but can live in an apartment in the city if walked daily. This breed does not like to be alone and cannot tolerate being closed inside all day.

I think this will cover most of your questions, there is a contact us page.  If you click there you can fill out a form and send it to us with any of your questions.  Any forms not sent with both a cell and home phone will not be responded to.  Email is fine by initial contact, but final details are closed on the phone or in person.  I refuse to play 20 questions, one at a time by email.
